Here's a gruesome story of obsessive love and terrible madness set in 19th century New England. One dark night, a cemetery caretaker is awakened by the barking of his dog. Investigating, the caretaker comes upon a scene of abject horror: a dimly lit figure is pulling the corpse of a young woman from an open grave. As the grave robber is brought to trial, the stunned townspeople hear firsthand his bizarre, ghastly reasons for the unspeakable act which he committed.
